UK Expats and the UK State Pension

Since moving to Ireland from the UK, my wife and I have been receiving UK State Pension into a UK bank account and transferring funds here as required. I'm not sure this is the best method to deal with this, and would be interested to learn what other UK expats do under these circumstances.

Oliverdog I think online banking is a great way of transferring funds from one country to another when needed. It gives you more control over the rate of exchange and its so convenient being able to do your banking from the comfort of your own home. Also you may find this link interesting.

Thanks for this Ann - I've always been a fan of online banking but have not tried it for international transfers. I usually draw a cheque on my UK Bank or BS and present it at my local bank, usually these days receiving a spanking on the exchange rate but avoiding charges from the UK Bank. Before we moved here, Barclay's charged a whopping £30 per transaction for moving funds, losing me as a customer in the process. I'm going to do a little research as there must be a better way.
