Hi, My 2 elderly parents, both in early 90s, are on the VHI policy PMI14416. I think it is over 2K each for them.
Could anyone recommend a similar policy, but cheaper?
They are in Galway city.
Issues at the moment include cataracts, macular degeneration.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Galen

Hi Galen,

VHI PMI 44 16 is currently renewing at €1437 per person per annum.

This policy covers a private room in most private hospitals excluding The Blackrock Clinic and the Mater Private. There is limited cover for every day medical expenses and an excess of €125 for these claims with this plan.

Assuming you want to stay with the VHI and if you are comfortable dropping cover for a private room in private hospitals then I suggest you give PMI 53 10 some consideration.

PMI 53 10 is costing €1350 per person for the coming year. It has very good day to day medical expense cover with an excess of only €1.

I hope this is helpful.

PMI 0710 is very similar to PMI 5310 and is a bit cheaper at €1311.98 per person. The main difference as far as I can see is that the outpatient policy limit is €3200 for PMI 5310 and €1000 for PMI 0710.
