Tuning TV to receive UK FTA TV stations

Are both TVs working off the same aerial ?
If they are trying tuning the non working TV while it is plugged into the working TVs aerial socket.

The signal could be weaker at one socket.

Also look for the signal strength in the TV menu.
If this is low you might not be able to retune.
If it is low, try checking at different times of the day.
It might improve at certain times. Try retuning the TV when the signal has improved.

Not necessarily. A software update could be a factor here.
He is still getting saorview stations. Tv software update would impact both. Any update to encoder will not matter as mpeg4 is backwards compatible with mpeg2 freeview.

A software update could impact more than just the decoder (TVs don't encode the received digital signal). But keep dismissing other people's feedback if that's what floats your boat.

,
The idea is to have, as before, a TV in each of two living rooms.

So the TV in question can't be moved.
the idea would be to see if you have a cable problem on one cable or an issue with how you are tuning, so if you put the ‘bad’ tv beside the good tv and move the cable to the bad tv and retune and it doesn’t work you will likely know it’s the tv or how you are tuning, it does work it’s the cable.

If there were a lot of UK channels it’s probable aerial is pointing at divis for free view, a lot of Meath can see it, which is pretty much same direct as Clemons cairn for saorview. Channel list and channel numbers here:

Analogue tv was switched off 13 years ago in NI and Ireland so that’s not your issue
