Trying to make income tax and PAYE play nice

I am a director of a start up company (registered as a limited company), I currently own more than 15% of the shares. I have taken no salary from the company, it is not currently profitable. I am registered for income tax.

I have started working a PAYE job a couple of months ago. I am on emergency tax and have no idea how to make it so that I'm not on emergency tax. I filled in a form 12A at the start of last month and sent it to revenue. I called to confirm that they have registered my new employment and that they have assigned my tax credits to the new company.

I am still on emergency tax. I have no idea why, or how to find out.

I also have no idea how to go about claiming back the extra tax that I have paid.

When i call revenue they keep bouncing me around to different departments.

I could sign off as a director of the other company for now if I though that would help, but I'll still have to be registered for income tax because I own more than 15% of shares in the company so I have no idea what to do.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Write to Revenue requesting that all your tax credits be diverted to your job salary, on the basis that you are earning nothing from your limited company.
