Trump and the intelligence

The Washington Post reported that Donald Trump had disclosed classified information to the Russian Ambassador.

The National Security Adviser, General McMaster who is often seen as an more orthodox character then Trumps other advisers and a calming influence, said at a press conference;

“At no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed. The president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known . . . I was in the room. It didn’t happen,”

Then Trump tweets

"As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism."

So McMaster lies for trump and within 24 hours Trump exposes him.

Makes our own politicians look statesmanlike by comparison.

Trump and Intelligence are two words that rarely appear in the same sentence.
This guy is clearly incompetent and continuously leaves his "surrogates" looking stupid. He is so used to shooting his mouth off that he cannot resist saying something controversial or boasting about himself. I doubt he can spell (or understand) the concept of "discretion".
But America got what is voted for - a change (but perhaps not the change they really anticipated).

I hate DT. But I must say I prefer the Russians to ISIS, I prefer Assad to jihadists, I prefer the Russian minority in Ukraine to the fascist nationalist ruling majority. And if ISIS are plotting to use laptops to blow innocent folk like me up, I welcome DT seeking Russian aid to combat that.

But I must say I prefer the Russians to ISIS,

Yes

I prefer Assad to jihadists,

Yes, The Asssad regime may be willing to do anything to stay in power, but they didn't use their power to oppress groups that were not trying to dislodge them. All the minority groups, and women with any interest outside the burka, in Syria prefer Assad, because the jihadists oppress people as the purpose of power.

Assad kills people to stay in power. Isis wants power to kill people.

I prefer the Russian minority in Ukraine to the fascist nationalist ruling majority.

Yes. These groups are directly sprung from the Fascist parties that supported Hitler. Germanys and Europes role in supporting and encouraging them is deeply disturbing. The economic incompetence of various Ukrainian governments for 2 and a half decades and the blind chauvinism of the voters, has seriously weakened their state.

I think Trump not lasting 12 months has moved from the possible more towards the probable. Hard to see how anything can get done when he's lighting fires and all around him are struggling to put them out. I think messing with the Feds was a bad bad move and will probably be his undoing. I think its just a question of when, not if, he crashes and burns, and this time Billy Bob at the ballot box won't be able to save him (assuming Billy Bob would even now be minded to do so, or come to think of it, assuming Billy Bob has a mind at all ..................)

I can't help but wonder if there is a 2nd issue here. Will the CIA lose confidence in their President and "go rogue"?. If they can't trust him and if they think he is a wee bit do-lally, history has shown they are quite capable of going off and doing what they think is right and simply keep the White house in the dark.

Trump will survive, at least until the mid-terms. Impeachement won't happen with a republican majority and a republican supreme court unless it can be proven he has done something very far out and that will take months. . If the Republicans lose seats in the mid-term, they will start to turn on him. However, he could be the best reason for more American's to vote Democrat in 3 and a half years time so they might be tempted to leave him alone

Scary thought is the best way for a President to unite Americans is to go to war with someone.

I'd say the intelligence community in the US has already "gone rogue" - I don't think the trust him one whit nor have they since he took office. He set himself up against them from the outset and has done nothing to endear himself to them. His own administration also appears to be going rogue. It is fascinatingly and gruesomely transparent. I find it terribly amusing he keeps banging on about "LEAKERS" - there are no doubt many staff talking to the press and the whack-a-mole that has set him on is a distraction he and his retinue cannot afford but the biggest leaks seem to be from the cakehole in his own mug. He has neither discretion nor wit and is a definitive charmless man. I cannot understand how anyone can stand in a hall and cheer him except out of a desperate and self-inflicted blindness.
Impeachment is being spoken of but the Republicans are only sidling up to it yet. He'll have to give them a solid reason to do so and alienate a sizeable proportion of his followers before they swallow it. Given his propensity for shovelling his feet into his gob along with his two scoops of ice-cream it is likely only a matter of time that he gives them something they can claim virtue over. I have no doubt though that there are preparations afoot for that eventuality.

Uniting over war is neither new nor exclusively American though. Bismarck was a master of that particular art, this orange goon just blundered into while fixated on his military porn.

Seemingly he will be making a speech about Islam in Saudi as part of his visit after signing a big arms deal with the Saudi Government. Any odds on him calling the Saudi's "great guys". Then he goes to the Vatican so maybe the Pope will be a great guy also. Should be an interesting few days
