Trolls - what exactly does this mean on AAM

When you guys mention the 'trolls' and 'feeding the trolls' does it mean someone who is messing, posting on here as a joke to wind people up, and by 'feeding them' does that mean continuing it. Also what is the origin of the word other than fairytales?

To me a troll was a monster under the bridge when the 3 Billy Goats Gruff tried to cross. As the good doctors picture aptly conveys.

Still don't really get it but the word seems in modern language to have been ascribed to someone on an internet forum who writes annoying replies - you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the replies.
 
On AAM a troll is someone who suggests:

1. Legal ways to frustrate the legal process to avoid paying debts.
2. Suggests the use of bankrupcty to get of debt.
3. Suggests that MABS are part of a conspiracy to help the banks collect debts.
