Transitional Period Payment

I had been in receipt of opf payment for a year prior to getting a full time job in January 2010 I contacted social welfare to make let them know that I had started to work full time and was earning gross €440 per week so they told me I was gone over the €425 limit so I was entitled to nothing and they just stopped my payment immediatly, which to my knowledge was fair enough case closed. So this week I find out my job is reducing my hours so my wages will go down so I rang social welfare to see what I will be entitled to and will i have to reapply for the payment and go through the whole process and interviews etc again and the lady asked me why back in January had I not been put on a transitional period payment of half the opf payment for 6 months ... I have never even heard of it ! She explained it to me so now it seems that I should have been given this payment but they never informed me of this when i made them aware of my full time job in Jan. Has this happened to anyone else ? Any ideas what I can do about it now ?

Fair play to her for bringing that to your attention, but did she not advise you what to do about it? If you have been getting One-Parent Family Payment and you have earnings above €425, you are entitled to a transitional payment that is the same as one-half of your rate of One-Parent Family Payment for six months. You can only get a transitional payment if you have been getting One-Parent Family Payment for a continuous period of at least 52 weeks. Best thing to do would be to call in and ask them about it as they should be able to sort in out now as they didn't do it at the time. Have you looked at the FIS option too?
