Trade Tools Tax Credit

I was told there was a tax credit for workers who provide their own tools. I have never come across this and dismissed it straight away. However, a friend told me that there is such a thing. This would be useful to my brother. Does anyone know if it exists and how I go about claiming it?

Yes this does exist if he phones the tax office they will change his tax credits also get him to get a balancing statement backdated to 2002 he could be due some money back

There is a credit for [broken link removed]. Worth about 200 euro pa depending on the trade. Not a lot, but better than nothing.
Just ring revenue and tell them the trade you work at and they will amend the credit and reissue.
