Of course you are way too 'smart' to be scammed. Think again

Madoff's firm, which collapsed in 2008, duped pension funds, foundations, a philanthropy established by the Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel and wealthy individuals, such as actors Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick.

The top six scams in America involve:
romance;
charities;
home repair;
health care;
the "grandparents scam," which scares grandparents into thinking their grandchildren are at risk and,
investments.

The only two people I know personally who have been scammed are both scientists - one with a Masters and the other with a Ph.D. The Master bought some landbanking stuff at an RDS show and the Ph.D. invested in a boiler room share based on a cold call.

Have you ever seen The Simpsons episode with the wallet inspector?

Homer befriends some nuclear physicists, super intelligent guys, but haven't really been out in the real world. Homer brings them out. The first person they meet claims to be a wallet inspector. They hand over their wallets.

Academic qualifications don't equate to street smartness.
