To wash or to dryclean?

I found this on the clothes tag of a skirt I bought
"Repassage interdit".
Babelfish gives me "Sharpening forbidden".
This has me totally baffled.
Cutting edge of fashion perhaps, but cleaning??
Can anyone help please?

My bet is ironing.

If you assume it's French, then the verb would be repassager. Also, there's an English defn of the word - meaning:

1. To pass (something) again.
2. To cause to pass again in the opposite direction.

So, sounds like ironing to me!

Thank you, Watersprite. That makes sense as it is a skirt with a "crumpled" finish.
And I love any excuse not to iron!

That still does not answer the question about washing -v- dry cleaning. What is the material? You may be able to check it out on www.persil.com

I assumed the OP had thought that the phrase might mean either to wash or dry clean, when in fact it means do not iron.

I believe that the question was answered?
