Hello ,
I have a bedroom that is not great at retaining the heat. The house is a timber frame house and in general is quiet good at retaining the heat. However this one bed room has three external walls. The attic is well insulated. The only two options I see are put an additional layer of insulated slab and/or insulate the floor between downstairs and bedroom. What are your thoughts on this situation and what recommendations would you have?

... or a un-heated garage. Hard to get insulation into the walls. Could maybe tack one inch insualted plasterboards if its really a problem. Big job all the same. Obviously someone died there in horrific circumstances before you moved in.

No its directly over the kitchen. All walls insulated.Attic well insulated. I suppose its not too bad but when you have a child in the room you would take more notice. I would be willing to put on the insulated slab however someone said it could create dampness issues as the walls couldn't breath. Is there any other reservation or reason why you shouldn't do this? Also I was thinking of lifting the floor and putting extra insulation between the joists?

are you sure that the radiator is big enough to heat room in the first place? and do you fell the cold more in the morning/late at night?

I actually doubled the rad. So the rad is over spec. It is the three external walls that are catching me.

If you insulate under the bed-room floor it will only make the bed-room colder, stopping any rising heat from the kitchen area.

As you have three external walls in this bed-room, there may be an awkward conjunction of eaves with air-flow through them. Maybe consider doubling the attic insulation here as a first step and maybe blocking air-flow from the most exposed eave.

Thanks mathpac ,I doubled the insulation. Do you think the the insulated slab would be a waste of time?
