Yes it was you mentioned this, my understanding is they have a family package of 4 seats together, plus 2 x 20 kg, it makes it easier for families as you don’t have to figure out seats and bags, it makes it simpler to book, suits you, price suits you, happy days.

A lot of this about Ryanair misses a very fundamental point about them and their model. I remember when Aer Lingus, Alitalia, British Airways, Iberia gave us free seats, free luggage, free breakfasts, free newspapers. But most of all, I remember me and my sister getting on a rickety bus in rural Ireland to a Dublin port, a boat of vomiting Irish, sleep a dream, arriving to rain soaked Wales, a train on which we were looked at with disdain, to London, and I remember swearing I’d never be subjected to that again. * Michael O’Leary changed all that. Paying maybe 100 euro to fly into London and whinging about paying an extra tenner, for my seat, yes please.

* I paid handsomely to fly the “national” carrier home on the Aer Lingus staff flying club.

Book Dublin Stockholm (expensive destination) book Prague (far) the Canaries (an island) then if your outward flight doesn’t go you won’t get refunded on the return.

OK. I book Dublin to Stockholm for a week.
Get a return to fly out Sunday with Ryanair and back the following Saturday.

What is the advantage of booking a return?
Does Ryanair often cancel the flight without offering an alternative?
Surely losing the return fair will be a small cost in the overall cost of losing the holiday? So if Ryanair doesn't fly I will fly with Aer Lingus. And I am glad I have the much cheaper return flight pre-booked.

I think that cancelling the entire flight seems a very rare occurrence.

And what happens if Aer Lingus are not on that route or the return flight available is 5 days from your return date?
