new build here

Just wondering is it best to lay wooden floor/tile before hanging of the door frames/doors

Which step goes first?

Which gives the better finish???

Normally door frames first and tile or timber floor after... think it also gives the better finish. In case of tiles you can grout the line up to the frame

thanks chlipps

Cheers for that chlipps

the people supplying the pre-hung door sets reckons that if the door frame is placed on the tilewooden floor, it would look like a cleaner finish

has anyone else got opions on this

Door frames first

Floor coverings second, if floating timber floor, leave room for expansion of timber floor to wall / door frame

Door architrave last, covers gap between floating timber floor and door frame / wall.

Floors first makes it easy for the door frame fitters, but really it should be frames first, then floor. frame fitters will need to know the floor thickness you plan on installing to ensure the doors are hung at the right height and there's enough clearance for the doors to open.

Floors first would make if a lot mor difficult to change the floors in the future without damaging the door frames.

Floors first, then door frames & doors - other wise there's a lot of fussiness around door opes, thresholds, architrave profiles, etc.

See here:

Ditto for kitchen floors too, btw..........tile completely, first.

Floors or doors?

Would have to say i totally agree with everyone who says to do the floors first. It's a much neater job especially in the case of timber floors where you have to leave room for expansion.
Just done this in my own house and am a tiler by trade.
