I am currently on maternity leave and am considering going on a three day a week when I return to work. I just don't know if we will be able to afford it.
My husband and I are currently taxed as single people, he earns @70k and I @55k. After changing to being taxed as a couple, will I have tax credits left over to transfer and is it possible to calculate at this stage how much of a cut in take home pay will be involved?

I am pretty clueless when it comes to taxes etc and want to be well armed before I approach hubby to try and sell it to him so thanks in advance.

use the following in calulation(joint assessment) when doing

if you stop working

husband lower band goes from 36400 to 45400 at lower rate, rest of income at higher

he can take you part of married credit 1830

so husband income has a extra 9000 at lower rate and extra tax credit of 1830

cant transfer paye credit

work three day week and continue to transfer bands and credits

husband lower band goes from 36400 to 45400 at lower rate, rest of income at higher

he can take you part of married credit 1830

so husband income has a extra 9000 at lower rate and extra tax credit of 1830

cant transfer paye credit

you can earn 27,400 at lower rate rest at higher and claim paye credit

for someone to give accurate comp, how much for a 3 day week?
