Thinking of Buying in Melbourne - Anyone done this?

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone out there has bought in Melbourne. Myself and Mrs Daveco23 have just bought a place here but will at some stage (within 3-5 years) move back to Melbourne on account of her coming from there, so while we would be buying a property there to rent out initially, we would be looking at living in it when we go back there.
I will be selling an ivestment property within the next year and was thinking of using the proceeds from that to fund Melbourne.
Just wondering if anyone has done same? Any info on Mortgages / good areas / rent return rates / stamp duty etc would be apprectiated.
