The Year of Linux

[Inexpensive]

I was watching a video recently where it was saying that this is finally happening on Desktop computers.
He had figures to back it up. Linux share is taking off at the expense of Windows because

• gamers, a key market can now play their steam games and others on Linux AND get better performance
• Linux distributions that are very familiar looking to windows users
• modern business applications are now usually webapps and so are platform agnostic
• Ability to run legacy windows apps using Wine on Linux etc
• Windows10 support is gone and there are lots of PCs that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 for hardware reasons
• because of how horribly intrusive Windows 11 is, with Copilot spying on everything, ads everywhere, and windows updates that break things.

Well yesterday I was on a Windows 11 pc and wanted to use notepad and it wasn't there, Notepad!!!
So i looked up 'missing notepad' and got this:

It can be frustrating when a basic tool like Notepad vanishes. In Windows 11, Notepad is now a "packaged" app from the Microsoft Store, which is why it can sometimes be accidentally uninstalled or fail to show up in search results
.

Apparently a Windows Update can also result in this.
The top result then proceeds to give FIVE multi-step alternative methods to get it back!
Microsoft have finally lost the plot this time I think
