Hi
Does anyone know why the above message appears (The threads below have not been updated since your last visit or since forums have been updated), when forums have not been read? It most often happens in work, if I don't log in, and just am browsing the New Posts(not having used AAM earlier in the day).
It also happens on my home computer, most often the first time I log in, so it looks as if I have opened all the posts.
No one else at home looks at AAM (ie the posts haven't been already opened by someone else)
It probably sounds a bit stupid, but I like having the posts I haven't looked at in bold type, so it's immediately obvious what has been opened or not.
Any ideas?

Any use? You might need to read the full thread.

Thanks ClubMan.
That explanation is what should be happening, but It's just that this occurs when I haven't actually read the threads, it just looks as if they had been opened.

Isn't that exactly what the link says?
The threads below the marker were in the same state when you last visited the forum, you just chose to not read them and they haven't been updated since then.

Hi
I'll try and explain further: This happens when I haven't already read any of the posts, and all the posts are new. i.e.: not "already viewed but unopened",or "old" posts. Just brand new posts, looking as if they have been already viewed.
This is happening inconsistently, but several times a day.
Has this happened to anyone else?

OK - is it not the case that when you login and there are new posts in a thread but you fail to view that thread/read the posts, you logout, login again and choose New Posts then that thread will appear in the list under the "have not been updated since your last visit" category?

Hi
That would be the case if I logged in/logged out, and that does certainly happen with those threads. This is also happening however when I log into the site for the first time during the day, so none of the threads were previously viewed, either by myself or anyone else, and are all 'new threads'.

The message occurs for me if I have gone to view new posts, giving a few pages of new posts.
Now, if i take too long going through all the pages of posts (maybe over 30 mins) I get the message in the OP subject.

So perhaps your browser has been open from the day before, or has been left open at home or work ?

Thanks, that's a good idea, but I always log out.

This happens me on occasion the first time I log in.

Heres what I think is happening.

I use mozilla and have AAM as my home page. Im automatically logged in. (I dont log out when my session is over). Now for some reason mozilla takes an age to start first time. Also for some reason my net work connection may be slow at about 6:00pm (when I get home).

I end up starting mozzila twice. The when I search for new post the second session only shows posts updated in the few intervening minutes.

Its either that or some one is logging in as me during the day!

Id love to be able to get posts updated in the last 24 hours but dont know how to do this.

Thanks DrM,

I have already edited out the red bit of the getnew search but was unaware of the getdaily search!

Thanks

Hi Aj
What you are saying makes sense, and also confirms that my paranoia isn't unique (!), as I had been wondering if I had been signing in as an alias, unbeknown to myself!(well, not really, but I had been wondering if there were other users on the computer before me, which is unlikely with my personal laptop at home)
However, in work I have an uber fast networked computer, so no delay in connection. I had wondered if it was because the computer was networked, but the cookies are not, so that doesn't make sense.
Thanks for that link Doc.
Still puzzled..But thank you all for the suggestions
Nicola
