The Servicing Of A Gas Boiler

I've no intention of changing from gas to one of those heat pumps where it appears you have to have all the stars perfectly aligned
Yes,that's our situation too. House is a bit younger than yours but would need new windows, an awful lot of extra insulation and either massive radiators or underfloor heating for a heat pump to work. We'll probably be replacing our current (kerosene) boiler with a new one.

It sometimes feels to me like Ireland circa 2005 right before the party ended. Prices back then were nutty as well. I go and see a Specialist twice a year. Highly qualified. He charges €150 a visit. Visit lasts 15-20 mins and is very thorough.
Dont start on medical.. went to specialist years ago and it was 500 for initial visit and 250 for followups, went to 1 followup. They prescribed certain drugs that in their opinion were suitable for me, but it was trial and error as everyone was different... the drugs made it worse and I came off them.. needless to say I didnt go back.
But as it is just guesswork, not sure why I had to go to this consultant, why the doc couldnt just do the trial and error..?

all in all, I am very sceptical of so called "professionals" and the exorbitant prices they charge.. I have provided 2 examples now... plenty more as well.. I would be content enough paying the price if I knew I was getting value for many, but many times I am not... very little piece of mind..

Do you have to bring the boiler with you?
Why would I bring a boiler with me for a medical appointment?

Not even sure if its safe for anyone but a registered gas fitter to remove it.

Sounds a very expensive way of doing things and would mean the house would be freezing when I go to see him in December. My wife will likely not be impressed.
