Hello,

My employer is sending me to work in London on a temporary assignment (approx 2 years). Does anyone know if I will continue to pay tax and prsi in the normal way or will this change because I will be living in London for the 2 years.

Thanks for your help,
Zag

I am not a tax professional, but this is my understanding.

In the year you leave and the year you come back, you will get both the full Irish and UK tax credits.

This might need a bit of planning as regards timing of your departure and arrival.

In the full year you are there, you will just get the UK tax credits.

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for your reply.
I will be remaining on the irish payroll whilst working in London and my employer reckons that I will be paid in exactly the same way as I've always been paid (not that he'd know much about payroll issues!).

I understand your point about the year I leave and the year I come back - something to do with split-year residency? - but can I get split-year residency relief if I'm being paid from an Irish company whilst working in UK? I'm a bit confused about that.
