Taxation of inherited annuity

I inherited a foreign annuity from my step-mother and took it as a lump sum. Can anyone provide me with information on if and how this will be taxed in Ireland? Taking the whole amount plus all other amounts I have inherited to date, I would still be under the tax-free inheritance threshold. What I am unclear on is whether inheritance of an annuity is taxed differently to other property, and if so, where to report it on a Form 11. Any information gratefully received.

You got a lump-sum. So you are not getting any more income from it.

I am not a tax expert, but I would think you just report it as a cash receipt.

You only have to report it if the total of your Category A since 5th Dec 1991 are greater than 80% of the Cat A threshold / € 320,000 today
