Quick question folks - My child who is still at school, has spent his summer busking around the country and has ended up making pretty good money - Also got some parties to play at due to the busking, which he got paid for.
Just wondering what his possible tax liability might be here ( If any ) ..
Thanks for your thoughts ..

Tom.

If he was honourable he could declare it but unless he has mass unexplained money in his bank account I don't think they will come knocking on your door. I'm guessing none of the buskers in town are even in the radar of taxman or welfare til they do something like suddenly have a deposit for house.

Has he earned of €13,000 ? This is the magic number, I guess he hasn't , so he wouldn't be liability.
keep it up next stop X factor !!!

If your child will be applying for a SUSI grant in the next few years, it is worth understanding the impact these earnings might have. Also on any future pension entitlements under the averaging calculation.

That's great .. Thank you folks. We are well below the magic 13,000 Euro mark, so should be OK !
Tom.
