i have been separated for 6 years and making child support for that time and have recently got divorced. the judge upped the order for child maintenance to 120€ per week and a one off payment of 5000€ to the college going dependent
can i claim any sort of tax relief on any of this?

How are legally enforceable maintenance arrangements treated for tax purposes?

Maintenance payments made under a legally enforceable arrangement entered into on or after 8 June 1983 are payable without deduction of tax. The following rules apply to payments made for the benefit of a spouse:

Maintenance for a child is never tax deductible but if the lump sum was for your ex then it should be.

I did a post on this topic a while back - have a read of it and then put any questions you have here.

the judge also awarded the ex 10k. would i be right in thinking that i would be able to get relief for this?
