I rang the tax office today regarding the allowances and how they are shared between me and my wife.
I earn 60 K ish and she will earn around 23k back to work 2 months ago after disability allowance for years.
I was told I have her personal allowance (worth around 30 a week).
We seem to be jointly assessed.
He weekly pay Is low. I understand if I ask for her to get her personal allowance (I was unaware I had it) her pay will increase that's good for her and mine will decrease accordingly which is fine as I earn more.
My query is then as a couple are we losing out any tax advantage by doing this. If so, how is that so.
