Hi,
For the last six months we've been renting out a house (we previously lived in as our PPR) in Newry for cash. We now feel however that it is prudent to declare the fact that the property is rented. I'd appreciate any advice on what is the most tax efficient way of declaring this rental income. Is there an option of paying tax in either jurisdiction or is one preferable over the other. Not sure if it makes any difference, but the rental income does not fully cover the mortgage repayments. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance, apple1

Tax is payable by you in the UK as a non-resident. You will need to register with the UK Revenue in this regard.
You will also be liable to tax in Ireland, but get a credit for any UK tax paid.
Probably best to get professional advice in this regard.
