Tax due less than allowable tax credits - how to claim?

Hi guys,

Im working the first 2 months of next year & then quitting my job to go travelling. Because the total tax due on my income will be less than the single PAYE tax credits of €3660, I understand I wont be eligible to pay tax for 2011. My question is: do I have to wait until 2012 to claim this tax back or is there any way of getting a tax rebate along with my salary & if so how do I go about arranging this?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

You can submit a form P50, tick the box that says you won't be working in Ireland again in the current year, and you will get a refund without waiting until the end of the tax year.

You won't get it back with your salary and you'll have to send your P45 with the P50 to Revenue to reclaim the tax, but the turnaround time is fairly quick
