Tax Credit Certificate received - what should I do with it?

The revenue sent me a Tax Credit Certificate for 2014. I am PAYE.

What is the purpose of sending it to me, is it just for me to check I agree with the stated credits? If so, where can I see a list of what I should have - is there some kind of general calculator somewhere that I can fill my details into to get a list of credits to compare with the certificate?

Is there anything else I should do with the certificate or just file it away? e.g. should I send my employer a copy?
 
All PAYE workers get at least two tax credits.

The personal tax credit.
The PAYE tax credit.
