Tax Cocaine not Coca-Cola!

Thread title inspired by the recent 'sugar tax'.

What's your vote?
Cocaine?
Or Coca-Cola?

And yes, I am aware that original recipe Coca-Cola contained both cocaine and alcohol, but sadly this version is no longer in stock on the shelves of my local Tesco, forsome sort of nanny state reasoning.

I thoroughly recommend "For God and Coca-Cola" by Mark Pendergrast for the real history of Coca-Cola.

Arguably full-fat CocaCola does more harm to more people than cocaine, is legal, sold on the open market and can be taxed. CocaCola gets my vote.

Cocaine is kinda hard to tax though when it's illegal :)
So maybe we should make it taxable...

I'd be for legalising drugs and tax them if it was done on an EU wide basis.
I agree with the sugar tax. Will Paul Murphy be protesting about it?

Sure, once we can prove the laws around the consumption of alcohol and tobacco are being enforced, and consumers as well as non-consumers alike are protected from the effects of them, I'll agree to anything.
