Tarmac grant

Hi,

Has anyone heard of a grant that you can get to tarmac a lane, if you share it with about 3 other houses? I've heard of this but trying to get information about it so would be grateful for any.

Hi there,
yes, there is a grant to help with the surface of a lane which is used by more than two houses i.e. three, its sticky to get, but you need to contact your council to apply, the engineer will come out and say yeah or no, they will get their "gang" on the roads to surface it - the same as they do public roads. i would have loved to get this grant but as we are the only ones who live there it was not possible, i have to put up with potholes for many more years to come.

I could be wrong but I think the grant is mainly for farmers

dont think it's only for farmers i know of a person who got the grant last year and i know he does not farmer him self but there may be farmers on the lane too

It's called the Local Improvements Scheme and it is aimed at 2 or more 'farms' using the road. As with everything in this pixie run country, it is open to abuse.

Contact your local county council and they will send you on form and info. I think they pick so many to do each year so you possibly go on a waiting list.
