Taking a tenant to court??

Hi

Have any of you landlords had the misfortune of having to take one of your tenants to court for non payment of rent/evection ?

Do you know if these are open courts, ie can any member of the public attend the hearing???

Do you know how long it can take to get rid of a nightmare tenant ?

Fortunately never had this issue - suggest you contact the IPOA (Irish prperty Owners Assoc). I used to be a member but have lapsed but they should be able to give you some advice.

Hi ice,

All landlord/tenant issues are now handled by the PRTB. You should have registered with them following the new rules issued end of 2004.

Have a look at their website and give them a call - I'm sure they'll be able to help you.

Be particularly careful that any [broken link removed]you give your tenant is valid.
