Hi all,
I was made redundant about a year ago and found it tough finding work ( in electronics industry). It was by accident i ended up in this line of work and had alwasy wanted a change. So I applied and got accepted for a masters in medical physics. It is one year full time and because I have a degree already ( in science)I do not qualify for BTEI and I will have to give up my unemployment benifit.I hope to get the student grant ( as a mature student). It will be tough finiancially to get through the yar but I think I can manage it.
The week I accepted the course offer I also got offered a job ( typical). Its decent job in the medical device industry with good pay .
So now I`m struggling to decide which option to take.
I`m considering taking up the job until the course starts in september.

This job seems to be related to the degree you are thinking of taking, correct?
Is part time study an option or open university?

The job is not related to the course. Its in a major medical device company , which is back to a factory enviourment similar to my last job.
The course can be part time , but completing it in one year would appeal to me more.
Ive done some research in job oppertunities after completing the course.Jobs are not plentiful but that should change with more private hospitals/clinics been talked about. Also the job, when I get one would be permanante and from what I`ve learnt about it would be a career I want.
I`ve wanted a change in career, so it seems like a good opertunity for this.
Is it a bad idea to take up this position with the intentions of leaving it in 2 months to return to college?

I would accept the job - you can defer the place in collage if you want. Alot of companies offer collage fees as part of the package so you could possibly get funding for the course you want to do...

Read your own reply. It seem your 'gut' instinct is telling you what to do.
If you find a job that you like, you will never work a day in your life!
See how many people on this site are sick of their jobs and want advice on how to change careers.
You are the lucky one, you know what you want.

You can do both! You mentioned that the course can be done part-time and you have the advantage of not stuggling financially if you accept the job.

Plus your new job might pay for it.
