Hi all,

Recently made an enquiry about switching my mortgage from EBS to KBC.

We have a strong ability to repay the mortgage and our LTV is between 50%-60%.

The one "issue" from is my partner is on a 1 year fixed term contract. Which we are pretty certain will be extended.

The mortgage advisor in KBC advised this should not be a problem.

The KBC underwriter may have a different opinion.

If we progress with the application and it is rejected. Will this mean a large X on our credit history?

Up to this point our credit history is perfect.

Any advice would be great.

Hi,

Depending on your partner's profession, it might not be an issue at all. I'm aware of several people who secured mortgages while on fixed contracts (accountants and IT professionals).

In terms of your credit record, the only footprint on your ICB record will be that KBC checked your record. Nothing else is recorded until you draw down. KBC will if course know they turned you down, but they'll also know why.

Red.
