Switching Broker

Originally my shareholdings were with Sharewatch. Then a few years ago they somehow ended up with FXCM based in London. I'd feel happier if they were in the hands of an Irish company.
How do I go about retrieving them from London and finding a local stockbroker to handle my affairs?

all irish brokers are extortionate when it comes to fees or at least the big two are

I suppose I can always check out what fees they charge before deciding which one to approach. I should have mentioned I'm an old guy in his eighties and not as confident as I used to be when it comes to dealing with this sort of thing.
My question really was.....do I first contact an Irish broker and ask them to arrange for the transfer of the shares?
Or do I simply ask FXCM to sell the shares and send me the cash? Advice please!
