Subscription to "The Economist". Am I entitled to a receipt without having to ask

I subscribe to the Economist. I pay by standing order from CC quarterly. However each time payment is taken I have to call up a distribution company in the UK to ask them to send me a receipt. They say this is the only way. You would think they could email you something, but no...
Anyway, can anyone tell me if they are legally obliged to issue a receipt or an invoice under EU cunsumer laws?
