structured interview for Trainee Auditor in C&AG

Hi,

I've just been called for interview for Trainee Auditor in C&AG, it's a structured interview which i've never done before & the application form is very offputting to say the least.

Has anyone done this type of interview before and any tips on how to prepare for it please?

Also any tips on filling out the form, i'm sure i could find examples in my past to fit the situations but don't know what kind of things would be expected. ie. do you have to refer to specific big projects or pieces of work that you did successfully or could each example be something simplistic that shows you have the organising/planning (or whatever) capabilities.

they have moved quickly to get the interviews started for this then it seems. i was placed in the 30's in Panel A, not too confident of my chances of being called for interview as i doubt there is a huge amount of vacancies. sounds like its a competency based interview? if it is, i don't think you necessarily have to refer to big/major projects you have undertaken, as long as you demonstate using good examples that you have the competencies for the job that is usually good enough in civil service interviews.

fyi, i was placed 34th in panel B two years ago for the last round of Trainee Auditor jobs & was told that the first 30 were being called for interview initially.
I thought that being 4 places outside i would get called for interview at some stage but it never happened.
When i checked with them again early last year they said the successful people from the first 30 were placed on a panel but all of this panel probably wouldn't get jobs before the panel expired.

i placed 25th in panel A this time so maybe they've taken the first 30 for interview again...
 
The staff in PublicJobs wouldn't have information on who will get a job from the panel- it depends on vacancies and how many people accept job offers. Plus, the rumoured public service recruitment embargo may affect this also.
