Straw Hat, is there any restrictions bringing one into the U.S.

Travelling to the USA soon and just wondering about bringing a straw hat with me. Might it be refused entry as it's agricultural produce, ie straw.

I'd hazard the guess that if it is a manufactured straw hat (be it in a factory or manually) you shouldn't have too much (or any) problem with it, given that the material would have been cleaned and sterilised, etc.
You need an import permit for straw and hay (see https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/13/kw/hay ) but I am not sure if your off-the-shelve straw hat falls under that category!

I personally wouldn't worry if it is a shop-bought hat and looks like it (like a Trilby, or or any beach / sun hat).
Shouldn't expect a problem if you wear it.

Interestingly, a lot of 'straw' hats are actually made from paper. Much easier to mass produce rather than working with a natural product.
