Hi All,

For a number of years I returned a self assessment because I was in receipt of rental income on my house.
I am now living in the house myself, so can I stop returning a self assessment? I only have PAYE income. Do I have to unregister somehow?

I agree with relax carry on. You need to de-register for income tax using the mechanism above. You'll need to file your last tax return for the year that you had rental income and then de-register with effect from the end of that tax year. For example if you moved into the property in 2019 and your rental income ceased then you'll need to file your 2019 tax return and then de-register from 31/12/2019.

Just to add to dublin67's post above, don't make the mistake of deregistering from 01-Jan as that means that Revenue will expect a return for that tax year as well
