I think it helps if they are sealed, although I'm not sure how often this has to be done. It basically involves cleaning them then coating them with a sealant. I would be interested if anyone thinks they are worth the trouble. Also I have heard from a few people that tiles and stone is far cheaper in the north, allowing for the cost of sterling. Would anyone have any experience of this?
