Sterling from bank or ATM?

I'm going to the North at the weekend, and am wondering whether there's any difference between the exchange rate you'll get withdrawing sterling at the ATM in the North, or going to the bank here and getting sterling at the bureau de change. Will the charges/commission/rate be any different, or is it worth queuing up in the bank here? I'm with AIB if it makes any difference.

I wonder if they'd add the commission when you get your quarterly statement of charges and not immediately...

AIB will charge you 1% of the value of the transaction, with min, charge of €1.27 and max. of €6.35. So, just make sure you don't take out small amounts, as you'll be charged €1.27 every time.

This is not a commission, it's a foreign ATM charge.

Cheers moneyhoney. I guess that means if I take out more than roughly £85 sterling then I'm only paying 1% commission. That sounds alright.
