Statutory Accounts - Deadline date?

Is there a compulsory date for a company to have their statutory accounts done by? Is it 31st December in Ireland? Or do we just have to have our accounts up to scratch at 31st December for tax purposes but can have a different date for our statutory accounts?

Isn't the deadline the company's financial year end or relative to same?

Check maybe?

But unless this is simply an academic question then you really should be talking to your accountant.

I've set up a new company from 1st Feb so am wondering if I can make my date for my statutory accounts 31st Jan ie financial year is 1st Feb - 31st Jan?

Technically, you can. In practice however, it would make more sense to have your year end the same as the end of a vat period, as it will make preperation of your accounts easier.

But, as Clubman has already said, get an accountant.
