Starting work mid-year

I've been overseas for a number of years and have just started back working in Ireland. Because I am only resident for half the year, I will only earn half my salary in this tax year. Does this mean that I am taxed on half my salary? i.e. my effective rate of taxation is a lot lower than if I had been working for the full year. Or are my tax credits and marginal bands halved?

No, you get your entire annual tax credits and tax bands, so your take home pay should be higher than normal for the rest of year.

Thanks for the responses. I've filled out a form 12a for my employer so I should have my correct pay from next pay period.
