as the title says..dh was lucky enough to get a fulltime job..he is on jobseekers at the moment & is starting in the morning.
He only found out saturday that he had job so will ring social welfare in the morning to sign off.
I was just wondering is his payment thats due for collection wednesday in the post office for the week past or for the week ahead iykwim & if he is entitled to collect it wednesday morning or not.(obviously that would be his last payment).
He wont get paid for a fortnight so im worried about cashflow.

oops Just realised iv posted this in wrong section..if someone could move it..thanks ..sorry

Congrats to dh on the job!

He can sign off online instead of trying to contact the SW office by phone - follow this link:

Jobseeker payments are paid in arrears, so the payment due to him on Wednesday is in respect of the days from last Thur up to Wed (the payment day). That payment will have to be adjusted due to starting work - he could collect it and arrange to refund 2 days (might be easier than having them stop the payment altogether and re-issue it which would delay it by a couple of days).

If there is a delay in payment of first wages, you may be entitled to Supplementary Welfare Allowance (SWA). It's a means-tested payment, administered by SWA officers who are based either at the local HSE health centre or the local SW office.
