Stamp Duty

My brother and I bought a house together 5 years ago and he is know buying me out. He has just contacted his solicitor and he has to pay stamp duty.
We bought the house for 100K euro and it's know worth 230K, I thought you paid stamp duty if the house was worth more than 315K.
Any advise would be appreciated?

As your brother is buying half the house he pays stamp duty on half of 230K ie 115K See [broken link removed] for rates of stamp duty. So no stamp duty is payable
