Stamp duty - where one party is not first time buyer?

Folks,
I bought an apartment in my own name, 5 yrs ago, as a then first time buyer. Now looking to buy (or build) a property with my girlfriend who will be a first-time buyer.

Am I right in understanding that we will not be treated as a first time buyer and will be liable for stamp duty?

This question is asked so often, I think the unfairness of the stamp duty rules in relation to FTBs makes people not quite believe its true.
