St. Patrick's Day in Australia

Anybody know if they celebrate St. Patricks on the 17th or the Sunday afterwards in Sydney?

When I was there in 2008 the parade was on the Sun (16th). The celebrations were in full swing all day on the Monday (17th) in the Irish bars around by The Rocks area.

One bar I was in had live music from 8am til very late. Good bands too! I remember there was a brilliant U2 tribute band who played sometime in the late afternoon, they were great and the atmosphere was fantasic. It's all coming back to me now, they had a restaurant bit out the back and the food was real good, I had two meals there during the course of the day. I can't remember the name at all though I'll get back to you if you want, I can ask my mate who still lives there.

St Pat's parade is 21st this year in Sydney. http://www.stpatricksday.org.au/

The Eastern Suburbs get a bit crazy, The Mercantile too, I think Hyde Park is busy during the day. Other pubs in the rocks are pleasantly busy.

So even though parade is on 21st this year do ye think the Irish will have a celeb on the 17th?

The pub was The Observer in The Rocks area. I'm sure there'll be plenty of people celebrating on the 17th.
