Hi Folks
Just wondering if anyone from DCC local authority received their annual benefit statement (ABS) for their single public service pension scheme.
Asking for a family member, as I presumed they were to be provided before 30th June, he is only a newbie, so unsure he will get one, as he only started February 2024, or is it the case, they will not provide until he has 2 years paid into the scheme, albeit I cannot see this anywhere.
He did receive his ASC60 on the 30th June, but not the ABS.
Thanks in advance

A proper SPSPS statement is a multi page document, requiring data from multiple sources. AFAIK they are only issued on request due to the amount of work required to produce it. However, many their HR/Payroll may issue a statement which just contains the years contributions, as call it a SPSPS Statement.

The ABS is issued every year. Mine is posted to me usually in May even though it summaries your DB scheme position up to the end of the previous calendar year!

I'm not sure if this is the explanation in the case of your family member but it's possible that since your family member had not completed a full year of employment by end of last December they weren't included in the 2024 ABS mail out.

I started in May of a year and I don't think I got my first ABS until two years later. It should be available in real time via an online members portal but that'll be a few decades off if it ever happens.

@CharlieMac, thank you. Yes he would have had only slightly more than 10 months contributions in the year 2024. I suspect he may not get one until the full two years contributions have been paid in. I have seen other public/civil service sectors can get their's online, It will be great when DCC go online for all employment documents , payslips/ABS/ASC60 etc. Thanks also @ Towger for the update.

Well I'm not sure but it might be more the case he has to have a full calendar year of contributions... so all of 2025 before they will make him an ABS. That ABS will show benefits and lump sum accrued in 2025 and separately a total for all benefits accrued from his start date. It's just they probably won't get around to actually generating and posting out that ABS until May 2026.
