I can't agree with this enough.If you've got enough money to keep a roof over your head and doing a job that you relatively enjoy and that actually gives you a sense of purpose, that's worth a lot more than getting paid twice as much for something you physically dread and makes you sick with stress or isn't a fit for you. Life really is too short.
I am in financial services 24 years, I am grossly underpaid for the amount of service I have but mainly due to the fact I have remained in CSD functions. I have no desire to manage people, I like to fix problems and process and look after the vulnerable people who need our services.
My salary has always given me a roof over my head and nice holidays and that is all I need in life to be happy.
My brother lives in Zurich and works at board level in a FS company and he is due his 5th heart attack any day now- it's not worth it!
(well it might be for some people but certainly not for me!)
