My spouse went off sick pay from work at beginning September and is receiving weekly illness benefit.of €198. Will there be any tax refund in 2019 on submission of figures to Revenue from employer for the months of September to December ?
 
It won't be auto triggered. Once you have p60, request a balancing statement from revenue and you'll get it.

So say it's 12 weeks without pay and allowing for €198 weekly benefit payment any idea what the refund would calculate to ?
 
You will need to give more information if you want an estimate.

How much did your spouse earn for 2018 outside of the state benefits? How much will your gross pay be for 2018? Do you have any other tax credits outside of the usual ones for the year?
 
Don’t forget illness benefit is taxable but her tax credit is probably more so she should be eligible for a refund.
 
If her illness benefit looks as if it might be long term, maybe see about transferring her unused tax credits to you if jointly assessed.
