Hi, Any info appreciated. I am a part-time public servant and plan to take early retirement at the end of April. I understand that I will have to pay 1% of pensionable remuneration for each year outstanding up until I am 65. I will not have enough income this year to get the full benefit of tax relief on this contribution. My question is: Can I request the Revenue for this contribution to be relieved against last years income (which would mean at the higher rate)?
Thanks for the interest!

As far as I know you have until 31 Oct 2010 to backdate relief against tax paid during 2009, providing of course your total contributions are within the Revenue percentage limits for your age? Your local Revenue office will confirm and they are very helpful.

Thanks Anfear

I think I should just squeeze within the contribution limit - provided the "pension levy" is not included in this calculation.
