Sports Direct Online experience

Has anyone else experienced really slow deliveries or cancelled orders after ordering online at Sports Direct. We ordered a pair of football boots in early March for my son following his confirmation. A couple of weeks passed without any update so when I contacted their support team I was told it was held up in the warehouse. I was offered a refund or the option to wait a little longer. We decided to wait a little longer as the boots were a bit cheaper online versus instore. A couple more weeks later and no sign of the delivery so I contacted them for a second update and they advised the item was out of stock and offered another refund. When I told them how dissatisfied I was they offered a refund again plus 10% off standard delivery. Now in some cases delivery is free and where's there is a charge its less than 10 euros so the offer amounted to less than 1 euro off our next order. Overall a really bad experience and would not order online again. I have ordered before online and when the item was in stock the lead time for delivery is really poor. Would not recommend SD online. These companies really do not care how they treat individual customers.

I can't understand why it's still open. I bought a pair of runners a few years. It was a style I knew and weren't available in my size anywhere else and I had to pay a fee to collect.

Another time I returned a pair and could only get a credit note that I could only use on the same brand. I'm in Galway and the store is very short of staff.

I could understand if they were pushing online but that online or in-store service is lacking. I just avoid now.

I suspect that their online order service is UK based, so deliveries have to come from there which adds to delays.

Their online mimics their instore service, appalling. Their workers are like the majority I find in services and retail industries now. Whether it's because a mindset or too easy to secure another job, I don't know. I still go and shop there if I see a bargain but I prepare myself for the usual frustration. I'd never go in on a busy day.

I have found that the collection from the store can sometimes take up to a week even slightly a bit more.
Online purchases come from the warehouse and are sent to the store for collection. It is the same with Lifestyle, Elverys etc. You are always better to get delivered to your home.

Sports Direct only give refunds for faulty goods. Refunds because you don't like them/ wrong size etc is only a custom that shops do, it's not law.

Sports Direct are a terrible company to deal with and have an owner that is well known to treat staff badly. He is low cost in everything, including the hours for their employees and how they treat their customers. I avoid as much as they can as I don't like giving them money.

Why is it better to get items delivered to your home? Home deliveries can be a hassle with packages going missing, delivered to the wrong addres, or deposited in insecure places. I ordered a pair of shoes from Elvery's and collecting them was straightforward and hassle-free, unlike the last several times I've tried to order things to my home.

In many cases home deliveries will arrive sooner. For those it suits it saves waiting time and then further hassle getting to the shop, queuing up and waiting while they find it. Parcels going missing isn't all that common but if you're not in much of the time and in an area where parcels might be stolen then store collection would clearly be better.

I had a bad experience recently where I ordered a fairly expensive jacket online. The parcel was scheduled to arrive via DHL on a Friday when I was going to be at home. I got a text on the Wednesday saying they were delivering it early. However, nobody was going to be home. They offered the option of one of those parcel locker things so I chose that. My parcel was never delivered to the parcel locker. It took weeks of email and phone calls before I finally got a refund.

Ordering from Elverys, I placed the order on a Sunday. I was emailed to tell me it had arrived in the Tuesday. Picking it up took 2 minutes since I was passing the store.

Came back to see this thread had some new recent comments. Update on our side was we received a refund but I turned down the offer of 10% off shipping costs on next order assuming we wouldn't be ordering again.3 days passed and my son ordered more boots from them. I give up :)

I seldom shop there but this worked. Cheapest I could get online and 5 euro voucher. Voucher arrived in email straight after collection and we spent immediately that day, no minimum purchase price to use the voucher. Thinks it's 5 euro for 100 euro or more.
As a thank you for using our Click & Collect delivery service, and if your order value is £100 or more (excluding delivery) you will receive a £5 voucher to spend in store when you collect your parcel from the store.

They've long been known to treat staff poorly, so no surprise.
My daughter worked there a few years ago. As an employer I was appalled by the way they treat their employees. 17 year olds forced to work until 2am, employees expected to climb 3 meters of shelving to access stock (no ladder, just climb up the face of the shelving), arriving in for the 9-2 shift and being told that you had to work until 9pm or you'd be sacked, even when holidays were booked well in advance employees were told that they couldn't take them, under payment, bullying, no breaks, rosters changing with less than 24 hours notice etc.
