Spiders - too many of them in car and house

We are also over run with them and have 2 types living with us the spindly ones like the daddy long legs and a house spider which is very large and fast moving.
Our house is big with a lot of stone and timber inside we have tried many times to remove them but they just keep coming back. They are like the Borg "resistance is futile" anyway I also keeping finding piles of dead woodlice and figure the spiders population is relative to its food so I leave them alone unless they get too close.

The spindly ones sound like dust spiders - long legs with a small body (3mm). As far as I know, they dont eat woodlice (maybe dead ones) buy mainly feed on dust mites. If you have both dust spiders and woodlice, you could have dampness problems in your room/house.

I dont like spiders at all. I was down in my friends house tonight and there was a very large spider on her wall. It reminded me Autumn is coming. My mam actually said to me last week that "spider season" was nearly here again, because she knows I dont like them. I dont mind daddy long legs and if there was one in the room I would pick it up and put it out of the window without harming it. However the spiders with the big fat black bodies....I would not go into the house if there was one in it.

I do have small damp problems with some poorly designed doors which are facing South West and out to sea, they get hammered by the weather and I freqently find insects mainly woodlice within the door seals when I open them.
As for the dust spiders and dust mites the internal ceilings are all timber with beams which look good but have loads of insect hiding places and really gather dust. The beams are also a great place for mice to hide.
